Client suitability

  • Counselling is not always useful for everyone — in particular, those who suffer from major mental illness may not be able to make best use of the short-term service we offer.

  • Our counsellors provide level 3 psychological support for people suffering from the impact of minor mental health concerns. We are not able to meet the needs of people with complex mental health or substance misuse problems who are receiving or need mental health care services.

When making a referral please explain the following

  • There is likely to be a waiting list

  • Expectation of counselling - must be able to commit to a regular once a week appointment for 8 weeks.

About our counsellors

Our team of counsellors have all undergone or are in the process of undergoing their counselling training on established Diploma courses (minimum level 4) and have supervision and support for their work.

Fast track service

This service is available for patients who wish to pay for their counselling sessions. Patients will be offered a counselling appointment within 14 days for a fee of £45 per session. This removes people from our standard service, helping us to reduce waiting times for everyone accessing the service.
